This is the logo for the Essex County Community Foundation. The Essex Country Community Foundation has awarded GLFHC a $20,000 Response Fund Grant, enabling us to distribute Climate Health Preparedness Kits to our homeless patients.

To help mitigate climate-related health risks, we will distribute seasonally appropriate supplies – such as winter survival gear and summer cooling items – to at least 500 individuals per season (1,000 total for project year) to prevent weather-related illness and injury due to climate change. GLFHC will provide seasonal weather appropriate stations as needed, like misting tents for extreme hot summer days and warming tents for extreme cold.

The goal is to empower people across the Merrimack Valley who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability to begin rebuilding their path toward long-term stability and better health. This includes individuals residing in shelters, unsheltered individuals living in encampments, and those temporarily housed or hospitalized without stable housing.
