Congratulations to GLFHC Senior Vice President – Chief Financial Officer Maria Coppenrath, CPA, on receiving the Jeffrey T. Latman Leadership in Health Care Finance Award from the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC).

“I am very humbled by this recognition and very grateful to NACHC for this honor,” Maria said. “Words cannot express how much this means to me.”

She has spent most of her 30-year career working at federally qualified community health centers. Maria’s first introduction to CHCs began while working as a Certified Public Accountant at AAFCPAs.

“Working with CHCs, I immediately fell in love with the people, mission and history,” she said.

Maria previously worked at Harbor Health Services, Inc., (including Geiger Gibson Health Center, Neponset Health Center, and Mid Upper Cape Health Center) and Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center.

The Latman Leadership Award is dedicated to the memory of Jeffrey T. Latman for his outstanding leadership and service to community health centers nationwide in the area of finance. It is presented to an individual who serves in a senior level finance position and whose work best exemplifies excellence, leadership, and integrity in strengthening health center fiscal operations.

Maria received her award during NACHC’s national conference, the Community Health Institute and Expo, in San Diego, CA. Her husband and children were on hand to see her receive the honor.

Maria is a member of the Massachusetts Society of CPAs, and the American Institute of CPAs. She serves as a member of the Subcommittee of Health Center Financing of NACHC, is a member of the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers Finance Committee, and is also a member of the Commonwealth Group Purchasing Advisory Board.
