Most benefits are available to employees working 20 or more hours per week and begin on the first day of employment (unless otherwise noted); benefit premiums are prorated for employees who regularly work between 20-39 hours per week.  

Health/Dental Insurance – The health center offers two medical plans and dental coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield.  

Vision/Hearing Plan – Voluntary vision insurance and hearing aid discounts are available for all benefit eligible employees.  

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) – FSA’s allow employees the opportunity to pay for dependent care and/or unreimbursed medical expenses with “before-tax” dollars.  

Basic Life Insurance – Basic life insurance coverage is provided at no cost to all benefit eligible employees.  

Supplemental Life Insurance – Employees can purchase supplemental life insurance coverage as well as dependent life insurance for their spouse and/or children.  

Short Term Disability (STD) Insurance – STD is a voluntary benefit that provides employees with income protection in case of non-work related accident, illness or injury.  

Long Term Disability (LTD) Insurance – LTD is available at no cost, it provides employees with income protection in case of non-work related accident, illness or injury.  

403b Retirement Plan – All employees may participate in the GLFHC 403b retirement program, which allows employees to invest money before taxes are calculated.  

Holidays – The health center provides paid holidays plus floating holidays to benefit eligible employees.  

Sick Time – All GLFHC employees earn sick time at an accrual rate based on hours worked.  

Personal and Vacation Time – All benefit eligible employees accrue personal and vacation time at a rate based on hours worked.  

Training and Development – Human Resources provides employees with an opportunity to advance their professional development with online and instructor led training programs.  

Employee Discounts – GLFHC offers discounted tickets to theme parks and moves theaters; auto & home insurance; cell phone services; and area gym memberships.  

Tuition Assistance – After six months of employment the Health Center will reimburse qualified tuition costs for approved courses.  

Continuing Education – Tuition discounts are available to GLFHC employees at partnering local colleges and universities.  

Employee Assistance Program – Available at no cost, all benefit eligible employees and their family members have access to confidential, professional counseling, evaluation and referral services.  

Legal/ID Theft Service – This benefit is designed to help you and your family with your legal needs as well as ID theft protection services.

Here’s to You! Recognition Program 

“Here’s to You” is a peer recognition program that allows any employee to recognize anyone in the organization for going above and beyond the scope of their job responsibilities. Recipients receive a token for each Here’s to You nomination. Once three tokens are collected, recipients receive their choice of prizes.  

Service Award Program 

GLFHC hosts an annual award dinner to honor and celebrate service milestones for the dedicated employees of the Health Center. Awards are presented to employees upon their anniversary, every 5 years.  

Employee Appreciation Day 

During Employee Appreciation Day, we recognize the valuable contributions of our staff by acknowledging their hard work and dedication to our patients, each other and the Health Center. We could not succeed without the mission-driven focus, positive energy and endless commitment to teamwork that our staff consistently exhibits.  

National Community Health Center Week 

GLFHC celebrates National Community Health Center Week (NCHCW) annually. Employees and patients are treated to a variety of activities throughout the week. NCHCW is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of our workforce and allows us to bring awareness of the resources that we provide to our community.  

President’s Award 

Every year, the health center’s President and CEO recognizes one outstanding employee with the President’s Award.  

Unsung Hero Award 

There are many employees among us who consistently go above and beyond for our patients, our staff and our community, yet are seldom recognized. Our “Unsung Hero” program is our chance to recognize these amazing people! Once an employee has been selected, their manager and senior manager pay them a surprise visit and award them with an Unsung Hero certificate and GLFHC swag.

After 26 years with GLFHC, Raquel is retiring as a Patient Accounts Data Integrity Representative. We miss her already!
