Greater Lawrence Family Health Center was proud to host Governor Maura Healey on Friday, October 18, as she launched Massachusetts’ seasonal vaccine awareness campaign. The initiative encourages residents to get their flu and COVID-19 vaccines to stay healthy during the fall and winter months. She was joined by DPH Commissioner Robbie Goldstein, City of Lawrence Mayor Brian DePena, State House Leader Frank Moran, State Senator Pavel Payano, State Representative Estela Reyes and State Representative Francisco Paulino.
“We’re taking action to ensure vaccines are accessible and available to all Massachusetts residents,” said Governor Healey. “We encourage everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect themselves and others.”
The campaign focuses on protecting high-risk groups, including older adults, people with chronic conditions, pregnant women, and young children. Outreach is being conducted in six languages across digital, print, and community channels.
GLFHC President and CEO Zandra Kelley, MD, emphasized the importance of prevention in public health: “At GLFHC, our staff works tirelessly to care for our community. Vaccines remain one of our most effective tools in keeping people healthy.”
Both Governor Healey and Commissioner Goldstein emphasized that vaccines are safe, free and widely available through health centers, pharmacies, and local health departments. The Department of Public Health recommends everyone over six months old receive both flu and COVID-19 vaccines this season.
We extend our deepest thanks to the many GLFHC staff who made this visit possible. Special appreciation goes to our Senior Management Team, Facilities Team, Advancement Team, and Pharmacy Department for their outstanding work in preparing for and supporting this important event. Your efforts showcased the very best of GLFHC and our commitment to public health.
