GLFHC Statement on Merrimack Valley Gas Line Emergency

Friends and Family of Greater Lawrence Family Health Center,
The devastation created from last week’s gas explosions and fires has undoubtedly affected all of us throughout the region, and the ripple effect is massive. Greater Lawrence Family Health Center’s patients and staff have also been affected in more ways than any of us could ever have imagined. Over 100 of our employees were displaced as a result of this disaster. Our employees are what make GLFHC so special to the patients we serve, so we are doing our part to make sure they receive the assistance they need. Through our Employee Emergency Fund, we have provided assistance with shelter, food, and support for immediate needs. We will be offering GLFHC employees the opportunity to register for the free Mobile Market happening on Saturday at our 34 Haverhill Street location. We have requested the Greater Boston Food Bank increase the supply, as we are expecting a large turnout. If you know of someone in need of the Mobile Market, please let them know they can reach out to Luz Rodriguez at lrodriguez@glfhc.org for more information.
We are here for this community, just like we have been for close to 40 years. Our physicians and staff on the frontline are always available to assist with our patients in need, and they can be seen throughout the community offering their assistance. Please let your loved ones know that quality health care and support is right here, in their community, ready to help. Whether it is seeing a doctor or making sure their prescriptions are up to date and filled – that’s what we are for, just like so many of our partners throughout the city – and we are proud of how our staff and this community has responded.
With pride and appreciation to be part of this community,

John M. Silva
President and CEO
