InPulse – GLFHC and the Affordable Care Act

Spring is around the corner, and with it comes baseball season, sunshine, milder weather, and the re-emergence of the ecosystem after a long winter. For Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, this spring is also a time for change and the bourgeoning of new ideas and projects happening all around us.
First, I’d like to share some exciting news about Methuen Family Health Center.
GLFHC will move the clinical operations and pharmacy services of Methuen Family Health Center, located on the campus of Holy Family Hospital, effective April 21, 2017. On Monday, April 24, Methuen Family Health Center will be opening at its new location at 147 Pelham Street in Ranger Plaza. This new location will be easily accessible, with the same great physicians, will have a bright and inviting registration and waiting area, 17 exams rooms, plenty of parking, and be home to Laboratory and Radiology services provided by our collaborative partners at Lawrence General Hospital.
The Health Center is also moving forward with establishing a Medicaid Accountable Care Organization (ACO), in partnership with Neighborhood Health Plan (NHP) and Lawrence General Hospital (LGH). The ACO will require seamless integration of care for our patients, building a regional health care system, featuring holistic and patient-centered care, that will improve health outcomes and reduce costs throughout the Valley.
Change also comes with the welcoming of our Residency Class of 2021, the ten new faces of promising young clinicians who will join us for their Family Medicine Residency experience.
As we near the end of April, we encourage support of our 12th Annual Making a Difference Gala on April 20th at Andover Country Club. This year we are “Fighting the Opioid Crisis”. While this scourge brings sadness and tragedy to our communities, it is our hope that by continuing to strengthen and build our outreach and education resources, we will help eradicate this insidious disease.
