Greater Lawrence Family Health Center Providers—Local Care, National Recognition

A  host of noteworthy external recognitions for GLFHC physicians/LFMR faculty and residents this spring:

  • Cara Marshall was awarded the 2017 Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians’ Family Medicine Educator of the Year Award at the annual meeting in Boston.
  • Jen Sparks was awarded the degree of Fellow, American Academy of Family Physicians and also elected as Vice President of the MassAFP.
  • Warren Bodine was awarded the degree of Fellow, American Osteopathic Association of Sports Medicine and will be recognized for this honor on May 5 at the annual AOASM meeting in Las Vegas.

GLFHC/LFMR faculty and residents presented the following seminars or academic posters at the 2017 MassAFP Meeting in Boston:

  • Wendy Barr, Cara Marshall, Matteo Leveroni-Calvi, Joe Gravel presented the academic poster “LFMR Training Physician Leaders for Undeserved Communities” at the ACGME 4 Year Length of Training Summit in Kansas City, MO.
  • Wendy Barr “Moving Toward National Standards for Maternity Care Training & Competency Assessment”; “The 4 Year Residency in FM: A Conversation with the Nation’s Fully Developed Programs”(panel) ; and “Community Scavenger Hunt: Fun Team Building While Walking on Our Patients’ Shoes” at AAFP Program Directors’ Workshop in Kansas City.
  • Wendy B. Barr, MD, MPH, MSCE; Sebastian T. Tong, MD, MPH (LFMR ’15); Nicholas M. LeFevre, MD “Association of Group Prenatal Care in US Family Medicine Residencies With Maternity Care Practice: A CERA Secondary Data Analysis” published in Family Medicine.
