GLFHC Holds 2nd Annual Elected Officials Legislative Breakfast

Greater Lawrence Family Health Center held its 2nd Annual Elected Officials Legislative Breakfast on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Andover. The event, which served as part of the health center’s ongoing National Health Center Week activities, was established to brief local elected officials on the many services GLFHC is providing their constituents.
Speakers included President & CEO John Silva, who gave a few brief updates and highlights about the health center’s goals in fiscal year 2018; CFO Bob Urquhart, who updated attendees on GLFHC’s financial situation; Mia Sorcinelli, who went over GLFHC’s efforts to combat the opioid crisis; and Zandra Kelley and Christine Rooney, who described the health center’s Healthcare for the Homeless and Behavioral Health programs, respectively.

Lawrence Mayor Dan Rivera was in attendance, and took the podium at the end of the event to issue a proclamation thanking GLFHC for the care they provide the community.
As a member of the National Association of Community Health Centers, GLFHC participates annually in National Health Center Week, putting on festivities at all six of its main locations. The theme for this year’s event, which takes place during the week of Aug. 13 – 19, is “Celebrating America’s Health Centers: The Key to Healthier Communities.”
