GLFHC Earns Honors from National Health Care Agencies

September 19, 2022

Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) has recently been recognized by three nationally renowned agencies dedicated to improving health care quality and patient safety for all people.

The three agencies – The Joint Commission, the National Committee for Quality Assurance, and the Health Resources & Services Administration – specialize in measuring patient outcomes and helping health care organizations assess, collect data, and improve performance.

“These awards are a reflection of the hard work our entire organization puts in every single day to deliver high-quality care to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. I am extremely proud of the entire GLFHC organization for receiving top awards and recognition from three independent agencies,” said Guy L. Fish, MD, MBA, CEO of Greater Lawrence Family Health Center.

GLFHC has earned The Joint Commission’s (TJC) Gold Seal of Approval for Ambulatory Health Care Accreditation. The seal is a symbol of quality that reflects GLFHC’s commitment to providing safe and high-quality patient care. To earn accreditation, the health center underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review earlier this year, with reviewers evaluating compliance in numerous programs. TJC is an independent, nonprofit organization that is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has recognized GLFHC as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Program. This means the health center has demonstrated a commitment to continuous quality improvement and a patient-centered approach to care using industry-leading best practices. The NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations and manages the performance measurement tool used by more than 90-percent of the nation’s health plans.

So far this year, GLFHC has earned two community health quality badges from the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). The health center has earned recognition for Advancing Health Information Technology and the Patient-Centered Medical Home Program. GLFHC implemented a new electronic medical record system and offers telehealth services, in addition to collecting data on patient social risk factors. HRSA is an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Its programs provide equitable health care to people who are geographically isolated and economically or medically vulnerable.
