Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, through its NiSource Company Foundation, recently awarded a $5,000 grant to Greater Lawrence Family Health Center in support of the health center’s Mobile Health Unit (MHU) project. The MHU is a truck-pulled trailer filled with everything GLFHC medical and support staff need to further the efforts of the health center’s Health Care for the Homeless initiative. Since the homeless will not often make their way to the actual sites of the center, the idea behind the MHU is to bring the health care to them — in the Greater Lawrence environments they regularly visit.

“We  clearly saw the value in this project and chose to back it with critical grant funding through our parent company’s foundation,” said Andrea Luppi, Communications & Community Relations Manager for Columbia Gas of Massachusetts. “We are pleased to partner with GLFHC to keep the mobile health unit where it belongs: on the road, treating patients.”
