Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) nurse practitioner Anh Lewin, of Westford, Mass., was recognized as Outstanding Preceptor of 2019 by UMass Lowell’s Solomont School of Nursing. Lewin was given the award at the college’s 3rd Annual Clinical Practice and Research Symposium Networking Dinner on Thursday, April 18.
Lewin’s student, Claudia Guillen, nominated her for the award. In her nomination, she wrote, “When I first started at my clinical rotation this semester, I was very anxious, but my days didn’t go by without words of encouragement and support from my preceptor. When my anxiety was in the way, she was there to remind me that I was capable and that I have what is needed to become a good nurse practitioner.”
Lewin works at GLFHC’s South Site at 73D Winthrop Ave. in Lawrence. Her fellow clinicians at the health center acknowledged her as a great educator and team player with considerable energy and enthusiasm.
In choosing to recognize Lewin with the award, the Solomont School’s Clinical Associate Professor Dr. Valerie King wrote, “The education of the next generation of nurse practitioners would not be possible without the dedication and commitment from preceptors like Ms. Lewin. On behalf of the whole university community and the Solomont School of Nursing, I would like to offer our appreciation to Greater Lawrence Family Health Center for their ongoing support of our NP program.”
