Doctors Receive Awards for Exemplary Service

Two Greater Lawrence Family Health Center physicians have received recent honors from medical societies.
Ryan Dono, MD, received two awards. He was named Family Physician of the Year by the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians, and the 2022 Community Clinician of the Year by the Essex North District Medical Society. (The Essex North District is a chapter of the Massachusetts Medical Society.)
The honors are in recognition of his efforts at GLFHC as the Medical Director of the Healthcare for the Homeless Program and his involvement as a core faculty member of the Family Residency Program.
Dono played a major role during the COVID pandemic with regard to staffing the respiratory illness team, facilitating COVID testing for the homeless population and making all possible efforts to ensure that this vulnerable population continued to have access to health care during the initial challenging phase of COVID.
In every way, Dono exemplifies the tradition of the ‘‘family doctor.’’
Lilia Guerra, MD, was also honored by the Essex North District Medical Society with the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her distinguished record of service as a longtime member of the Greater Lawrence health care community.
She was one of the first pediatricians at GLFHC and an instructor in pediatrics for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program. Guerra established and served as the Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Lawrence General Hospital for many years.
