13th Annual Making a Difference Gala
GLFHC is Creating Access to Quality Health Care for its 60,000 patients in the Merrimack Valley, many of whom are underserved.
Governor Charlie Baker will serve as keynote speaker, and he and First Lady Lauren Baker will serve as honorary co-chairs, of this event honoring Lawrence Mayor Dan Rivera for his commitment to accessible, quality community health care for Massachusetts residents. Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) will present Rivera with the Making a Difference Award at the organization’s 13th annual Making a Difference Gala on Thursday, April 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Andover Country Club.
The health center’s fundraising theme this year is “Creating Access to Quality Health Care,” which represents a crucial part of its ongoing mission. Creating and maintaining access to care is a particularly challenging task in a city like Lawrence, where citizens face significantly poorer results when it comes to major health status indicators than those in nearby communities, and where nearly 60 percent of the population is at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty line.
