Preventing Concussions and Sports Injuries

In addition to healthy eating, exercise is a great way for children to stay fit. Many children play sports to get their exercise in.
If your children are going to play sports, make sure they wear the proper equipment, such as shin guards, pads, mouth guards and helmets, to prevent injuries. Youth sports concussions are in the news every day.
A concussion is an injury to your brain after a serious hit to the head. It can hurt your brain and temporarily change the way your brain works.
A few signs of a possible concussion are:
- vomiting
- dizziness
- headache
- trouble concentrating
Remember to always call your doctor if you have concerns.
