3 Ways to Lower Your Chances of Getting Sick This Fall

Getting sick during this time of year can be very difficult. Work, school and family are hard enough to juggle as it is without having to add illness to the mix! Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to lower your chances of getting sick.
1. Wash your hands.
When illnesses like cold and flu are going around, and people are constantly coughing and sneezing around you, it’s all too easy to come into contact with a virus. Be sure to wash your hands often, particularly before you eat. It’s never a bad idea to carry around hand sanitizer, either!
2. Get a flu shot.
While the flu shot unfortunately doesn’t have a 100% success rate, it can drastically decrease your chances of having to miss work or school due to illness. Greater Lawrence Family Health Center is always happy to help our community get connected with flu vaccinations – just come in or give us a call!
3. Get plenty of sleep.
Did you know that your body has a better chance of fighting off a virus if it’s had plenty of rest? It’s true! Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night so your body’s in shape to fend off the cold and flu.
