In 2015 the Health Center joined the national call to action and adopted the Access is the Answer theme by creating the Access to Care Fund as its overarching funding priority, as this most closely aligns with GLFHC’s mission:
To improve and maintain the health of individuals and families in the Merrimack Valley by providing a network of high quality, comprehensive health care services and by training health care professionals to respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population. The Access to Care Fund is your way to give to GLFHC throughout the year.
By supporting the Access to Care Fund donors provide the Health Center with funds that are used to continue providing patient services not otherwise covered by insurance, but all very important to our patients in their day-to-day lives – from a helping hand for patients served by our Healthcare for the Homeless programs to simple items such as co-pays for basic prescriptions or assistance with transportation needs to specialists. Or providing specialty supplies to patients involved with Fuente de Esperanza – the only Spanish-speaking breast cancer support group in the Merrimack Valley .

Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, the 2nd largest community health center in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, identifies the need for participating in grassroots advocacy at the local, state, and federal level as a top priority.
Grassroots Advocacy is defined by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) as communicating with the general public in an effort to influence the vote of a legislative body. GLFHC has been recognized by the National Association of Community Health Centers as an Advocacy Center of Excellence.
In the case of GLFHC, an Advocacy Champions Team (ACT) has been established, that includes internal and external stakeholders. The Advocacy Champions Team is charged with recruiting staff, board members, volunteers, and community supporters of the Health Center to become Health Center Advocates and educating the community on the importance of advocating for GLFHC at all levels – local, state, and federal. The Advocacy Champions Team is also charged with recruiting an Advocacy Rapid Response Team (ARRT).
The ARRT will be the group of GLFHC staff and friends that will initially be called into action to respond to initiatives set forth by NACHC or the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers.
Advocacy Objectives at GLFHC:
1. Increase participation from GLFHC employees, board, patients, and community members as Health Center Advocates.
2. Educate internal and external stakeholders on the importance of Advocacy for Community Health Centers at the local, state, and federal levels.

The External Relations team is focused on advancing the mission of Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, through raising private philanthropic support, communicating the mission – internally and externally – in a meaningful way, and ultimately strengthening the GLFHC brand amongst our various constituencies at the local, state, and federal levels.

Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Ryan White Funding
The integration of various disciplines allows GLFHC to provide a full spectrum of support to over 330 HIV patients. Our HIV team consists of Primary Care Providers, HIV Specialists – AAHIVM-certified Family Physician and Physician’s Assistant, HIV Nurse Care Coordinator, Medical Case Managers, Peer Navigator, Clinical Pharmacist, Nutritionist, and Behavioral Health professionals. As a result of this interdisciplinary team approach, our viral load suppression rate is at 86%--well above the national average of 71%. Through our Ryan White grant funding, the team is able to provide medical and social services to a vulnerable population, thereby decreasing morbidity, mortality, and hospitalizations.Learn more
