GLFHC celebrates National Community Health Center Week

America’s Health Centers: Turning the Vision into Reality.

Each year, the federal Bureau of Primary Health Care designates the 2nd week of August as National Health Center Week. The health center legacy shows the value and vast potential of a community-based health system that is lifting barriers to health care, revitalizing communities, and keeping people healthy at cost savings for the nation.

The theme for National Health Center Week 2010 was America’s Health Centers: Turning the Vision into Reality. GLFHC celebrated the week by inviting our local, state, and congressional legislators to a Governmental Leadership Breakfast. This year’s presentations focused on how the expansion of primary care and pharmacy services at our newly renovated North Site is improving patient access to health care. GLFHC also discussed how our Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program is helping to resolve the nationwide shortage of primary care clinicians.
